Pharmacist degree program and profession
Pharmacists are a healthcare profession belongs to the category of Professions Supplementary to Medicine. They issue the medicines, pharmaceutical devices, and other healthcare products prescribed by medical professionals to the patients, providing health information for the excellent pharmacy practice and maintaining the institutional medical supplies (include drugs, surgical consumables, surgical instruments, medical equipment etc.)
Major areas of responsibilities are

Pharmacists are trained in two Schools of Pharmacy, which are in Colombo and Kalutara. The medium of instruction is English. Following the completion of 2 years of training, "Higher Diploma in Pharmacy" will be awarded and they may be appointed to all levels of hospitals and
Regional Medical Supplies Divisions (in each district). Pharmacists are also working centrally at Medical Supplies Division (MSD), National Drug
Quality Assurance Laboratory (NDQAL), National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) and National Medicinal Drug Regulatory Authority (NMRA). Within the hospitals, Pharmacists wear a white coat at work and must work in different settings within the institutions i.e. dispensing counters, drug stores, etc.
They have an opportunity to expand their career in supply chain management (MSD and RMSD), in research, in drug analysis and registration (NDQAL and NMRA), or to join as pharmacy tutors in training institutions. Radiotherapist is a healthcare profession of Professions Supplementary to Medicine. They are involved in the planning and delivery of radiation treatment, primarily for people diagnosed with cancer. Radiation Therapists use images for the localisation, planning, and delivery of radiation treatment according to the Radiation Oncologist's prescription. Radiation Therapists provide specific care to patients throughout their treatment and educate patients on managing any treatment-related side-effects. They work in a hospital/institutional radiotherapy department.

Health entomology officer is a healthcare profession of the Paramedical services category. They are involved in carrying out entomological investigation and help in vector control activities in preventing vectorborne diseases such as malaria, filariasis, dengue, leishmaniasis and house fly.
Major areas of responsibilities are
- Collection and identification of adult mosquitoes and mosquito larvae from suspected breeding places

They are responsible for devising and applying prosthesis (an artificial device that replaces a missing body part) and orthosis (an externally applied device used to change the structure and function of the human body) treatment as a part of total rehabilitative management under the guidance of a physician. Electroencephalographers (EEG) degree program and profession
Electroencephalographs are health care professions of paramedical services involved in performing neurophysiological investigations and provide services in Neurology, Paediatrics, Eye, ENT, Respiratory, Psychiatry, and Neurosurgery fields. They work in Neurophysiology units in a hospital setting and provide their service by monitoring patients continuously in Neuro Intensive Care Units, specialised long-term monitoring laboratories, and assist in the operating theatres for specialised surgical procedures.
The trainee Electro-encephalographs will undergo 2-year training at the School of Electroencephalography in the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Colombo. The medium of instruction is English. Plans are in progress to award degree programs for these professions with the University Grants Commission's collaboration.

Public Health Inspector (PHI) profession started in 1913. PHI plays a crucial role in the public health sector for over a hundred years.
